#StopShell: Brazilian Government Sold Amazon Rainforest to Climate Polluters by Maanvinder Pilania

Hello guys! Please, pay attention to this, it is very important and serious: in earlier December 20 the brazilian government sold 19,818 Km² of Amazon Rainforest land to fossil fuel companies. Shell was one of the campanies that bought it. These lands are exploratory blocks, wich means that companies are going to deforest Amazon to find oil, but they may not find it. This action will impact 47 indigenous communities and 22 conservation unitis. Fridays for Future Brazil intends to file a lawsuit against auctions that will still happen next year (there are still about 34,000 Km² to be sold) beacause, unfortunately, it's almost impossible to reverse that decision. The news was not published in any major brazilian newspaper, only few notes were published in small newspapers. It is very worrying that the larges tropical forest in the world is being privatized, it is a double theat to the climatic balance: in addition to deforesting a huge Amazon area, more fossil fuel can be burned.
